What is a Memorial?
Memorials stimulate dialogue and shape cultural narratives that preserve collective memory. One purpose of memorials is to challenge viewers’ perceptions as well as to honor specific events and people who reflect and uphold community values.

In 1988 Congress passed resolution 331 in recognition of the Iroquois confederacy’s contribution to the United States Constitution. Sovereign Arts proposes to erect a memorial in honor of their highly admired and influential ‘working democracy’ known as the ‘Great Law of Peace’.
